I don't coach from a textbook. Everything I bring to our sessions comes from real life — raising a family, moving to the other side of the world, navigating relationship changes, and learning that asking for help isn't weakness, it's wisdom.
I grew up in a small farming village in southwest England, where I saw firsthand how financial stress, relationship difficulties, and life challenges impact families. That early exposure shaped a curiosity about what helps people through tough times — and what doesn't.
I spent over 20 years in leadership roles, eventually co-founding a consultancy in the UK that grew into a successful international business. But the moments that taught me the most about resilience weren't the professional ones — they were the personal transitions. Relocating my family to New Zealand in 2016 meant rebuilding everything: career, friendships, identity, sense of belonging. I know what it feels like to start again.
I'm a father and a husband, and those roles have shaped me as much as any career. Watching my kids grow, supporting them through their own challenges, navigating the complexities of family life — it all feeds into how I work as a coach. I understand that the decisions people face aren't just "professional" or "personal." They're everything, all at once.
When I'm not coaching, I'm usually on a sports field, trying a new recipe in the kitchen, or planning the next adventure somewhere I haven't been. I believe life rewards people who stay curious, keep moving, and aren't afraid to ask for help when they need it.
I pursued coaching because I've seen — in my own life and in the lives of people around me — that the right conversation, at the right moment, can change everything. I'm now a CTA Senior Certified Professional Coach and ICF Member, based in Wellington, and I bring all of this into every coaching relationship.
I'll tell you what I see, even when it's uncomfortable. You don't need someone to agree with everything you say — you need someone who cares enough to be straight with you.
I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'll share what I know, ask questions that challenge your thinking, and then trust you to make the right decisions for your own life.
Insight without action is just interesting conversation. Every session ends with something concrete — a decision made, a step planned, or a new way of seeing your situation.
Coaching isn't an unregulated free-for-all — at least, it shouldn't be. Here's the training and standards I hold myself to.
Professional training and ethical standards that underpin my practice:
What I bring to coaching goes beyond qualifications — it comes from how I've lived:
Credentials matter because they represent ethical standards and proven methodology. But what really matters is whether you trust the person sitting across from you to be honest, capable, and genuinely invested in your progress.
The best way to find out is to have a conversation. No commitment, no pitch — just a straight talk about where you are and what might help.
